On our final full day in Austria, we visited the town of Innsbruck. Driving within the city is a bit hectic if your German isn't up to snuff, but we managed with our helpful onboard satnav. Our first stop of the day was the
Alpenzoo located just outside the main city centre.
| The Alpine Ibex. |
| Overlooking Innsbruck from the zoo car park. |
| Sleepy murder kitty. |
| Eurasian Lynx. |
| Moosey spies a friend! Who could it be? |
| Momma Moose and twins! |
| How cute they are! Until they're 8 feet tall and angry to see you. |
| Alpen danger noodle. |
| Had no idea there were wolves, bears, lynx and such on the European mainland. I thought everything was as friendly and non-threatening as Britain! Nope, Britain is merely the exception. |
| The river's name is Inn, and Innsbruck means the bridge over the river Inn. |
| The first part of the day was lovely. The second half...downright miserable. |
| Approximately half an hour before it began to pour. |
| At first glance they're rather beautiful, but keep staring and you realise how mucky they are. |
| The beautiful motifs and architecture really are astounding. |
| McDonald's. |
| This camera doesn't accurately capture just how moist it got within an hour. It was very uncomfortable. |
| We found a restaurant but because the windows were open, everyone smoking below just wafted their smoke right in to our meal. Yum. |
| Before running away from Innsbruck, we stopped at their local Spar and bought all their sweets and snacks. We also visited Arko and bought some amazing chocolates and strawberry gummies. |
| Our Austrian & German snack haul in front of the Alps in our room in Austria. |
------------ Wednesday ---------------------
| Moosey is sad to be leaving. |
| Our flight was scheduled for midday and we were still across the border in Austria so we had to eat breakfast, pack and head out to drive back to Munich. |
The drive back in to Munich wasn't awful, but the GPS had us go somewhere entirely different than where we intended so I ended up just following the airplane pictures on the highway until it delivered us eventually to the airport, and also to the rental car return. That was a weird one too. All the rental cars got dropped off in one area in one long continuous queue system.
| After arriving back in to the UK, we took the underground to St. Pancras train station where we then had to wait a couple hours for our train. Since it was lovely out and we had time to kill, we wandered over to this church and park area and just enjoyed the view. And my husband enjoyed the smog and pollution as he nearly sneezed his brains out. |
| Fuchsia, one of my favourite odd flowers. |
And that's it! 1.5 years after the damn trip and I've finally finished it! I can't even begin to tell you how behind I am on this because there are literally over a dozen other trips out and abroad I've taken that I've yet to post about! Well, one day at a time, I say! We'll get there in the end!
Thanks for your patience and I'll see you again next time!
